چکیده

One of the core task in multi-view learning is to capture all relations among views. For sequential data, the relations not only span across views, but also extend throughout the view length to form long-term intra-view and cross-view interactions. In this paper, we present a new memory augmented neural network model that aims to model these complex interactions between two sequential views that are asynchronous. Our model uses two neural encoders for reading from and writing to two external memories for encoding input views. The intra-view interactions and the long-term dependencies are captured by the use of memories during this encoding process. There are two modes of memory accessing in our system: late-fusion and early-fusion, corresponding to late and early cross-view interactions. In late-fusion mode, the two memories are separated, containing only view-specific contents. In the early-fusion mode, the two memories share the same addressing space, allowing cross-memory accessing. In both cases, the knowledge from the memories finally will be synthesized by a decoder to make predictions over the output space. The resulting dual memory neural computer is demonstrated on various of experiments, from the synthetic sum of two sequences task to the tasks of drug prescription and disease progressions in healthcare. The results show improved performance over both traditional algorithms and deep learning methods designed for multi-view problems.

Memory Fusion Network for Multi-view Sequential Learning

Multi-view sequential learning is a fundamental problem in machine learning dealing with multi-view sequences. In a multi-view sequence, there exists two forms of interactions between different views: view-specific interactions and crossview interactions. In this paper, we present a new neural architecture for multi-view sequential learning called the Memory Fusion Network (MFN) that explicitly...

Online End-of-Turn Detection from Speech Based on Stacked Time-Asynchronous Sequential Networks

This paper presents a novel modeling called stacked timeasynchronous sequential networks (STASNs) for online endof-turn detection. An online end-of-turn detection that determines turn-taking points in a real-time manner is an essential component for human-computer interaction systems. In this study, we use long-range sequential information of multiple time-asynchronous sequential features, such...

Neural networks with a self-refreshing memory: knowledge transfer in sequential learning tasks without catastrophic forgetting

We explore a dual-network architecture with self-refreshing memory (Ans and Rousset 1997) which overcomes catastrophic forgetting in sequential learning tasks. Its principle is that new knowledge is learned along with an internally generated activity re ecting the network history. What mainly distinguishes this model from others using pseudorehearsal in feedforward multilayer networks is a rev...

Dual-Network Memory Model for Temporal Sequences

In neural networks, when new patters are learned by a network, they radically interfere with previously stored patterns. This drawback is called catastrophic forgetting. We have already proposed a biologically inspired dual-network memory model which can much reduce this forgetting for static patterns. In this model, information is first stored in the hippocampal network, and thereafter, it is ...

Two Novel Learning Algorithms for CMAC Neural Network Based on Changeable Learning Rate

Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller Neural Network is a computational model of cerebellum which acts as a lookup table. The advantages of CMAC are fast learning convergence, and capability of mapping nonlinear functions due to its local generalization of weight updating, single structure and easy processing. In the training phase, the disadvantage of some CMAC models is unstable phenomenon...
